Sooooo, here I am, sitting at my Indiana college house. I should be in Italy this week and on my way to Greece next week. My sorority created a plan last year to take trip to Italy + Greece this spring. I was so so excited to go with some of my best friends and planning for a year to go. This last winter we were told there were more spots in our trip that could be filled with more girls from our sorority or other girls from campus. So, I invited my best friend, Julia, to join us on the trip which would make it the perfect trip! However, it didn’t go as planned, there were complications with my passport and miscommunication with the travel agency we were going through and I sadly no longer was going on the trip.
I will say, although I’m not there I am so so excited for my best friends that are there now and getting updates and pictures is the highlight of my week! I know Italy and Greece are not going anywhere and I have plenty of time in my life to travel to those destinations! I am sad I couldn’t have the unique experience of going this spring with my college friends – but there’s nothing stopping me from going on some sort of other trip with them in the future! (especially for spring break next spring!)
So, since I’m not in Italy right now and am instead in Indiana – here is what I’ve been doing to romanticize my college town this week so I don’t get too much FOMO.
I am taking the time to finally sit down and work on this blog. I started creating my website almost two years ago, and actually launched it last February. While this blog is something I was so excited about and still so passionate to work on, I always got caught up with school (which is reasonable, college can be very time consuming haha) or would find other things to occupy my time with. I am also a perfectionist so I was in the mindset for a long time that I didn’t want to put a lot of effort into my blog until I was the perfect writer, editor, photographer, etc. SOO with all this free time on my hands this summer, I decided to stop making excuses and jump into this blog so I can make my blogger dreams a reality! I had to start somewhere to actually perfect my skills and fulfill my passions! (So, basically if you have a passion or dream you keep putting off or making excuses for just DO IT!! I know it can be hard to stick with sometimes or easy to find other things to do – but your dreams don’t work unless you do!)
I am also trying to spend more time outdoors! I brought the bistro patio set my aunt got me for my birthday to my (small) front porch and now Nova and I spend our days enjoying the sunny and warm summer days. Nova enjoys watching the people, bunnies, and birds from the sunny spots of our front yard and then will come sleep under the table in the shade. She loves being outside so I can tell she’s very excited about this. I also feel more motivated and inspired when I work outside. I definitely enjoy it way more than working in my dark bedroom. I HIGHLY recommend finding a comfy or peaceful place to work outdoors this summer! The sunlight and fresh air feels so good to work in!
I’ve also been trying to be more creative in my daily life! I have been putting more effort into my social media platforms and creating content. I’ve been finding pretty spots in my college town and learning to appreciate the nice parts of living in the midwest. I love creating content and romanticizing the things I do throughout the day. This helps my creative content ideas flow! One thing I’m so excited about for the summer is watching my creative growth and enjoying the little moments of what I do every day!
It’s literally only the first week of summer and although it’s not Italy or Greece, there is still so much I can accomplish and enjoy in the next few months!! (such as my best friend’s bachelorette trip to SC this summer, my 22nd birthday, and lots of time with friends)
